Lianne Morrell is a classically trained violinist and composer whose music combines expressive depth, formal clarity, and stylistic versatility. Influenced by classical tradition, film scoring, and contemporary techniques, she composes concert, solo, and sacred music, as well as music for film and media.
At the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College, she studied violin with Elly Toyoda and composition with Avner Dorman. During her time there, she developed a strong foundation in counterpoint, orchestration, score study, and conducting, while also exploring composition for multimedia and film. Her works span a broad range of genres and ensembles and have been programmed by a variety of performers and organizations. Her piece A Bridge to Tomorrow, written for Gettysburg College, has gained wide recognition through its use in media and institutional recordings.Â
As a violinist, she has performed with a wide range of ensembles throughout Pennsylvania and maintains an active presence in the professional music scene. Guided by a lifelong devotion to the violin, she brings joy and a collaborative spirit to each setting.
In addition to her musical training, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and currently works in health care and contributes to medical research. Her interdisciplinary background shapes her artistic voice by blending analytical precision with expressive artistry.
